Sikh man convicted of murdering university student after knife attack and false racism claim during police response
A 16-year-old has been charged with the murder of Brayan David Saldarriaga, a 15-year-old boy from Haringey, Hackney, who died after sustaining stab wounds on 25 May.Police were called at 7.17pm to reports of a large gathering, disorder, and individuals seen carrying machetes in Towpath Walk, Hackney.
Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, attended the scene and found Brayan with serious injuries at Poplar Close.Despite the immediate response, Brayan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accused teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, is also facing charges of possession of a bladed article and is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday.Specialist officers continue to provide support to the family of the deceased.The incident has raised concerns over youth violence and knife crime in London, prompting ongoing investigations by local authorities.
