Fifty-eight overseas Filipino worker (OFW) applicants were rescued from a suspected illegal accommodation facility in Parañaque City, according to a report by The Philippine Star.Authorities discovered the site lacked proper registration, was overcrowded, and failed to meet safety standards.The rescue followed a closure operation by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on July 25.All 58 rescued applicants are women, bound for domestic work in the Middle East.The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) provided transportation assistance and transferred them to a partner shelter.The agency is conducting welfare assessments, documentation, and case management to ensure their safety and continued access to government aid.The OWWA is coordinating with the DMW and other agencies to facilitate welfare assistance and referral services for the applicants.
