The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu for persisting with economic policies that have worsened poverty and hunger in Nigeria.

In a statement, the opposition party cited reports from the World Bank and World Food Programme to highlight that 139 million Nigerians now live below the poverty line, while 17 million face severe hunger.The ADC argues that Tinubu’s focus on economic statistics over people's welfare has led to widespread hardship.They warn that if Tinubu continues in office beyond 2027, the situation could become even more catastrophic.

The party demands his resignation, stating that his policies have failed to improve citizens’ lives and that temporary fixes won’t solve Nigeria’s deep-rooted economic issues.Instead, they advocate for long-term reforms like securing farming communities and boosting food production to achieve lasting change.The ADC emphasizes that the debate should be about improving people’s lives, not just economic theories.
