ADC Primary in Ogun State Ends in Dispute as Electoral Panel Declares New Winner

Drama don happen inside the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Ogun State as disagreement break out over who actually win the party governorship primary.

Initially, the Secretary of the state primary election committee, Barrister Adebimpe Adelowo, announce say Jimi Lawal, who is known to be close ally of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, win the contest.According to that first result, Lawal score 19,428 votes, while Dr.Biodun Collins Ogundipe get 5,775 votes and Dr.Marie Abolaji Odusina get 4,825 votes, making Lawal the supposed flagbearer for 2027 election.But later, the situation change when the Chairman of the ADC Primaries Electoral Committee, Adeniyi Adams, come out to reject that result.He insist say only the official committee he lead get authority to announce final outcome.According to him, after full review of the voting process across Ogun State, including cancellations and rerun elections, Dr.Biodun Collins Ogundipe actually emerge winner with 9,370 votes.He said Lawal follow with 6,812 votes while Odusina get 2,349 votes.

Adams explain say some local government results, especially Sagamu and Ijebu East, were cancelled due to overvoting and problem with result sheets, while rerun elections happen in Yewa South and Ado-Odo/Ota to correct irregularities.He maintain say all aspirants’ agents were aware of these decisions during the process.

The committee chairman also submit official report to the party national secretariat, and call for calm among members, saying internal disagreement is normal in political contests.He urge reconciliation so the party fit focus on preparing for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.The development don create confusion inside ADC as two different results now dey circulate over who truly win the primary.
