Alan Dershowitz Scheduled to Testify Before House Committee Investigating Jeffrey Epstein Case

Alan Dershowitz, a prominent defense attorney and former lawyer for Donald Trump, is expected to appear before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on July 20 as part of the committee’s ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and the government’s handling of matters related to his case.

According to the report, Dershowitz requested the opportunity to testify, stating that he wants to address misconceptions and present his account of events.Dershowitz was a member of the legal team that helped negotiate Epstein’s controversial 2008 plea agreement.

That deal allowed Epstein to plead guilty to Florida state charges, including soliciting prostitution from a minor, while avoiding federal sex-trafficking charges.

The agreement has faced criticism for years from those who argue it enabled Epstein to avoid more serious consequences and continue harmful conduct before his later arrest. The attorney has consistently denied any involvement in Epstein’s criminal activities. He has also denied allegations made by Virginia Giuffre, who claimed that Epstein trafficked her to Dershowitz.Giuffre later withdrew the allegation in 2022, stating that she may have been mistaken.Giuffre died in 2025.

The House committee’s investigation has included interviews with several high-profile individuals connected to Epstein’s social and professional network, including Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, and Ghislaine Maxwell. The committee is also expected to question investor Leon Black regarding his long-scrutinized relationship with Epstein.

The inquiry continues as survivors and advocates seek greater transparency and accountability regarding Epstein’s activities and the decisions made by authorities during previous investigations.
