Filipina tennis player Alex Eala secured a landmark victory at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships after defeating Australia’s Maya Joint in a hard-fought second-round match.

Eala came from a set down to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 at Court 3 of the All England Club, marking her first-ever progression to the third round of a Grand Slam tournament.The match began with Joint in control, as she took the opening set 6-3 by playing more aggressively and forcing errors from Eala.

However, the momentum shifted in the second set when Eala raised her level, improving her serve consistency and extending rallies to wear down her opponent.She levelled the match by taking the second set 6-2.
