Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, urging Nigerians to acknowledge his efforts in advancing the country.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Sheriff highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to national progress and state autonomy.

He emphasized Tinubu’s decision to eliminate fuel subsidies, redirecting funds to states instead of personal gain, and pointed out that states now receive substantial allocations, such as N55 billion monthly.

Sheriff also stressed the shared responsibility of federal and state governments in addressing insecurity, noting that states have obligations under the concurrent list.While acknowledging the federal government’s role in protecting citizens, he argued that states must also take ownership of security.

Sheriff’s comments reflect a broader debate on leadership accountability and the balance of power between federal and state authorities in Nigeria’s political landscape.
