Manhattan high-rise evacuation due to structural concerns
A tragic collision occurred near the Confederation Bridge in New Brunswick on Tuesday morning, resulting in the deaths of three individuals.The incident involved an ambulance from Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.) colliding head-on with a transport truck.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the victims were two paramedics and a patient in their care: a 77-year-old woman from Montague, P.E.I.; a 56-year-old man from Warren Grove, P.E.I.; and a 23-year-old woman from Nine Mile Creek, P.E.I.The ambulance driver, identified as the 56-year-old man, was traveling westbound at the time of the crash.The transport truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.RCMP confirmed the collision occurred at 9:11 a.m.in Melrose, a community southwest of the bridge.The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief, with P.E.I.Premier Rob Lantz calling it a 'tragic loss' and emphasizing the deep impact on the community.Island EMS urged residents to avoid speculation and focus on compassion during this difficult time.The collision has also raised concerns about the strain on paramedics, with New Brunswick paramedics offering support to P.E.I.colleagues affected by the loss.Both vehicles are under investigation, and part of Route 16 remains closed near Melrose.
