Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is set to unveil its next-generation AI hardware at an event in San Francisco, aiming to challenge Nvidia's dominance in the data centre chip sector.

The company plans to launch its Helios server racks, a first-generation design competing with Nvidia's upcoming second-generation product, and formally introduce its Venice CPU for data centres.AMD's strategy targets inference computing, the computational process behind AI interactions like chatbots.The event, held at the Moscone West convention centre, attracted industry executives and engineers.AMD also announced a deal to supply up to two gigawatts of Instinct MI450 chips to AI lab Anthropic, with a $5-billion investment.Additionally, AMD has a multiyear partnership with OpenAI, promising tens of billions in annual revenue.These moves underscore AMD's aggressive push to capture market share in AI-driven data centre technologies.
