APM governorship candidate promises inclusive and transparent governance in Ogun State

The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogun State, Rotimi Babajide, has pledged to run an inclusive, transparent and people-focused administration if elected in the 2027 elections.

Speaking shortly after emerging as the party’s flag bearer, Babajide, who is a town planning expert, explained that his leadership approach would be based on accountability, broad participation and shared prosperity.

He emphasised that every citizen in Ogun State would be carried along in governance, regardless of political affiliation, ethnic background or social status.According to him, his administration would ensure that citizens are not just spectators but active participants in decision-making processes.

Babajide also highlighted key priorities such as infrastructure development, rural transformation and expansion of agriculture, stressing that Ogun State’s status as an industrial hub must translate into real benefits for the people. He further insisted that all resources generated by the state should directly improve the living conditions of residents.

On political competition, he dismissed claims that Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) poses any threat to his ambition, stating that elections are about service and vision, not intimidation or popularity. He called for issue-based campaigns and encouraged political actors to focus on development rather than rivalry.

Also speaking, the APM senatorial candidate for Ogun Central, Idowu Imoleayo, criticised the current administration, alleging poor performance in sectors like healthcare, education, road infrastructure and security. He also spoke against moneybag politics, saying electoral success ultimately depends on divine support.

Meanwhile, the party chairman, Abayomi Sanyaolu, expressed confidence that APM would perform strongly in the 2027 elections, saying leadership success depends on connection with the people and God’s backing rather than financial strength or crowd size.
