Arvind Kejriwal Backs Sonam Wangchuk's Hunger Strike, Demands Education Minister's Removal Over Exam Irregularities

Former Delhi chief minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal joined educator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, extending support to Wangchuk's indefinite hunger strike over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET controversy.

During the protest, Kejriwal demanded that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan be removed from office, alleging that the Centre had repeatedly failed to prevent question paper leaks and restore public confidence in the examination system.

He also publicly suggested that Sonam Wangchuk should be appointed as the country's Education Minister, describing him as a more suitable choice for the role.

Addressing supporters, Kejriwal claimed that repeated examination leaks and concerns over evaluation processes had deeply affected students and parents. He criticised the government's handling of these issues and urged it to respond to the concerns of young people instead of ignoring them.He warned that continued dissatisfaction among students could have political consequences in the future.Earlier in the day, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav also visited the protest site to express solidarity with Wangchuk.Meanwhile, doctors treating Wangchuk said that his health has been deteriorating as his indefinite hunger strike entered its 19th day.According to his attending physician, Dr Satish Lamba, Wangchuk has lost more than 9 kilograms since beginning the fast on June 28 and now weighs 56.9 kilograms.

Although he remains hydrated and mentally alert, medical assessments indicate that his body has entered the second stage of prolonged starvation, increasing the risk of serious complications, including possible multi-organ damage, if the fast continues.Doctors are monitoring his condition continuously.
