The B.C.Lions enter the 2026 season with a focus on building on the lessons learned under rookie head coach Buck Pierce last year.With the team opening training camp in Kamloops, B.C., the Lions are determined to refine their strengths and address their weaknesses.Quarterback Nathan Rourke highlighted the squad's improved understanding of the playbook and personnel, setting a clear direction for the season.The 2025 team finished with an 11-7 record, leading the league in net offence, points, and touchdowns, but also conceding a high number of points.

Off-season moves included contract extensions for key players like Rourke, running back James Butler, and offensive lineman Dejon Allen, as well as new additions such as linebacker Darnell Sankey and defensive lineman Casey Sayles, aimed at increasing physicality and leadership.

The team faces the challenge of replacing departed players, including receiver Ayden Eberhardt and offensive lineman Jarell Broxton, but remains confident in its roster.Rourke, last season’s CFL Most Outstanding Player and top Canadian, and receiver Keon Hatcher Sr., who recorded over 1,600 receiving yards, are expected to lead the team’s offensive charge.

The Lions’ primary goal is to progress further in the playoffs than last season, using their familiarity with the system to perform with consistency and improved execution.
