Police in Chamoli district have registered an FIR against Pramod Nautiyal, a suspended employee of the Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), over alleged financial irregularities in handling donations at Badrinath Dham.Nautiyal, who served as a personal assistant in the chairman’s office, was suspended after an internal enquiry flagged discrepancies.A show-cause notice was issued to him on July 3, 2026, and he is now attached to the BKTC office in Joshimath.Officials stated he cannot leave the headquarters without prior approval and must cooperate fully with the investigation.The FIR was filed under sections 306 and 316(5) of the BNS Act, which deal with theft by servants and criminal breach of trust.BKTC CEO Sohan Singh Rangar claimed Nautiyal’s response to the notice was suspicious, leading to the recommendation for action.The incident highlights ongoing concerns about transparency in temple administration and donor funds.The temple committee has also ordered stricter oversight of donations to prevent similar issues.
