Suspected bandits stormed Bungudu town in Zamfara State on Thursday night, abducting the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area, Hon.Nura Umar Bungudu, along with his wife and children.

The attackers overpowered security personnel, killing two police officers and two vigilantes, including a volunteer who was actively protecting the town.The chairman's family members were taken, but security operatives later rescued four or five children during a pursuit.Despite reinforcements being deployed, the bandits escaped with the chairman.

The resident blamed the attackers' heavy weaponry and informants for the successful raid, urging the government to enhance security in vulnerable areas.Efforts to confirm the incident with the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful.The attack highlights the growing threat of banditry in the region, with residents calling for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
