The Banjara community, long plagued by the dowry system, is organizing a significant awareness program in Yadgir to combat this practice.Leaders of the All India Banjara Seva Sangha, Devraj Naik and Kishan Rathod, highlighted how poor families are forced to spend lakhs on dowry during weddings, often leading to selling property.This financial burden has become a critical issue within the community.

The event, held at Santa Sevalal Bhavan, aims to unite various Banjara organizations in a continuous protest against dowry, suicide, and female foeticide.Around 2,000 community members and leaders will participate, with local authorities swearing an oath to abstain from dowry-related transactions.The initiative underscores the community's commitment to fostering respect for women and addressing systemic gender-based violence.This grassroots movement reflects broader societal challenges in India, where dowry practices persist despite legal prohibitions.The program's emphasis on collective action highlights the need for sustained efforts to eradicate such harmful traditions.
