CFL secures six-year broadcast partnership with Bell Media, DAZN and YouTube
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers concluded their pre-season schedule with a 30–19 loss to the BC Lions at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday night. The result was largely considered secondary, as the Bombers rested most of their starting lineup, including veteran quarterback Zach Collaros, following an extended training camp period. The game offered an opportunity for depth players and roster hopefuls to showcase their abilities ahead of final cuts.
BC Lions receiver Nick Cenacle played a key role in the first half, scoring his second touchdown of the game late in the second quarter to help his team build a 20–13 lead at halftime.Winnipeg’s offence found limited success, with both of their touchdowns coming on quarterback sneaks.Taylor Elgersma and Bryce Perkins each crossed the goal line, while Elgersma also led extended action at quarterback.
He finished the night completing 11 of 20 passes for 127 yards and added 18 rushing yards, displaying composure and development despite missed opportunities on potential big plays.Head coach Mike O’Shea expressed satisfaction with the team’s effort, noting there was valuable film to review and difficult roster decisions ahead.Elgersma appeared to strengthen his case for the backup quarterback role, though O’Shea stopped short of confirming any depth chart decisions.Perkins added 51 passing yards in the final quarter, going 7-of-10 through the air.Christian Fredericksen led Winnipeg’s receivers with six catches for 79 yards. For BC, starting quarterback Nathan Rourke played only the opening series, finishing with 91 passing yards before being rested.
With the pre-season now complete, the Blue Bombers turn their attention to final roster cuts and preparation for their regular-season opener against the Calgary Stampeders.
