In May 1985, legendary musicians Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck reunited to film the music video for their cover of Curtis Mayfield’s classic song 'People Get Ready' in Oxnard, California.Photographer Jeffrey Mayer documented the production, which took place mostly at a train station and nearby areas.Directed by D.J.

Webster, the sepia-toned video tells a simple narrative: Stewart writes a letter inviting Beck to Los Angeles to play guitar, Beck travels via train boxcars, and the storyline culminates in a reunion hug and Beck’s guitar solo.Beck is seen playing his iconic butterscotch Fender Telecaster throughout the shoot.The video premiered on June 3, 1985, coinciding with the release of Beck’s album 'Flash,' and received significant MTV airplay.

Despite the success of the song and video, this filming session remained one of the few collaborations between the two artists during that period, as a subsequent tour was canceled after only a few performances.The photos and footage from this shoot provide a rare glimpse into the dynamic between these two influential musicians during the mid-1980s.
