Bengaluru daycare abuse allegations: Five caregivers booked, Capgemini facility temporarily closed

A serious case of alleged child abuse has emerged from a corporate daycare facility in Bengaluru’s Brookefield area, prompting police action and an internal response from IT major Capgemini.

According to reports, five women working as caregivers at the daycare centre have been booked under relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act after disturbing videos surfaced online.

The footage, which reportedly circulated on messaging platforms before being flagged to authorities, allegedly shows toddlers between the ages of two and three being physically mistreated and emotionally distressed.

The complaint states that the children were subjected to multiple forms of abuse, including being threatened when they cried, physically handled roughly, and in some instances allegedly placed inside a front-loading washing machine, forced to sit on a toilet, and sprayed with water using a toilet jet spray. These allegations have triggered widespread concern regarding safety standards in childcare facilities located within corporate campuses.Following the emergence of the videos, police initiated an investigation and began questioning the accused caregivers.

Authorities are also verifying the authenticity of the footage, determining the timeline of events, and assessing whether additional children may have been affected. No arrests have been made so far, but the inquiry is ongoing.

Capgemini has temporarily shut down the daycare facility at its Bengaluru campus as a precautionary measure and stated that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies. The company reiterated that employee and child safety remains its top priority. The case has also been reported through child protection channels, including the Child Helpline, prompting swift intervention.Further investigation is underway to establish accountability and ensure child welfare compliance in institutional daycare settings.
