Biola Fowosere recounts alleged family abandonment, depression and years without contact from ex-husband

Yoruba Nollywood actress and producer Biola Fowosere has shared an emotional account of how, according to her, her ex-husband left her and their children without any explanation, an experience she said led to a serious mental health crisis.

Speaking during an interview on African A-List, Fowosere said she still does not understand why her marriage ended the way it did and wishes she could ask her former husband what she or their children did to deserve being abandoned.

She alleged that after leaving the family, he completely cut off communication, blocked them, and that neither she nor the children have seen or spoken with him for the past seven years.

Fowosere also revealed that the emotional impact of the separation was overwhelming, saying she battled depression so severely that she spent one year and six months in hospital. She described the period as one of the most difficult times in her life and said she almost lost her sanity before eventually recovering. The actress, who began her Nollywood career in 2009, is known for roles in Yoruba films such as Iyawo Esu, Abebi, Logun Ofe, Aromimawe and Olori. She also produces content through her YouTube channel, BiolafowosereTV.

Her latest interview adds to the growing number of Nigerian entertainers who have spoken publicly about mental health challenges, single parenting and the emotional and financial burden of raising children without adequate support. The claims in the interview are presented as her personal account and have not been publicly responded to by her ex-husband.
