Border Patrol Agent Indicted for Excessive Force After Striking Non-Threatening Suspect

A Border Patrol agent, Raymundo Ramos Jr., was indicted for allegedly accelerating his vehicle into a suspect who was walking calmly and posed no threat to officers. The incident occurred on January 31, 2025, during a joint immigration enforcement operation in Harlingen, Texas.

Ramos was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after court documents revealed he 'accelerated' his vehicle into Alejandro Martinez-Castaneda, a Mexican national being arrested for an immigration violation.Surveillance footage from a nearby home showed Martinez-Castaneda walking, not running, when Ramos's vehicle struck him.

Investigators found no skid marks or braking sounds on the video, and a witness reported Ramos drove 'super quick' without activating emergency lights or sirens.Martinez-Castaneda sustained serious injuries, including back, neck, and leg trauma, requiring hospitalization and surgery.A federal special agent concluded Ramos's use of force was outside authorized protocols, as the suspect posed no danger.

Ramos declined a voluntary interview in March 2026, and his attorney is seeking to transfer the case to federal court, arguing federal jurisdiction over the immigration operation. The case is set for arraignment on August 3, 2026, in Cameron County, though no federal charges have been filed.

A *vehicle*? This is beyond messed up, folks. Another example of state violence disguised as “law enforcement.” This dude needs to be held accountable, and then we need to seriously dismantle these systems. It's outrageous what they get away with. Just…wow.

Another one? I bet he just got scared and reacted. These Border Patrol folks are dealing with a lot, okay? You can’t expect them to be perfect, especially with all the stuff going on down there. This feels like someone's trying to make a point…probably Democrats.
