The loan disbursement, which carries a concessional interest rate of 10 percent, aims to create self-employment opportunities and stimulate grassroots economic activity.

This initiative addresses joblessness and poverty in the northwestern district bordering Lake Victoria by providing capital for sustainable income generation.

Fatina Laay, the district's executive director, emphasized proper fund utilization, while authorities pledged oversight to ensure loans achieve their goals of fostering self-employment and contributing to national economic objectives.

The program aligns with President Samia Suluhu Hassan's focus on inclusive growth, targeting Tanzania's informal sector which accounts for 60% of GDP.
