As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence, Canada is marking the occasion with a series of symbolic gestures to highlight its longstanding friendship with the U.S.

A joint military fly-past over Ottawa, messages from Prime Minister Mark Carney, and the gift of 250 maple trees are among the ways Canada is commemorating the milestone.The Royal Canadian Air Force and the U.S.Air Force will conduct a ceremonial fly-past over Ottawa on July 4, featuring two Canadian CF-18 Hornets flying alongside two U.S.F-35 Lightning II fighter jets.This event underscores the close military partnership between the two nations through NORAD.

Carney emphasized that Canadians and Americans have built their friendship generation by generation, raising a monument to peace that inspires the world.

Additional celebrations include Niagara Falls being illuminated in red, white, and blue, Canadian military vessels joining Sail250 events in Norfolk, Baltimore, and New York City, and planting 250 maple trees in Washington, D.C., and bordering states.King Charles III also acknowledged the U.S.-UK relationship, stressing shared values like liberty and the rule of law.These gestures reflect Canada's commitment to strengthening transatlantic ties.
