Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand is set to visit Pakistan on Monday, marking the first such visit in 20 years.The Foreign Office confirmed the trip, stating it will be Anand’s first to Pakistan since assuming office.

During her visit, she will engage in bilateral discussions with Pakistani officials to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, education, and people-to-people exchanges.The talks will also address regional and global developments of mutual interest.

Anand will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and discuss the significance of the vibrant Pakistani diaspora in Canada, which includes over 300,000 Canadians of Pakistani origin.

Both nations emphasized their commitment to expanding cooperation, with recent negotiations on a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement.Following the visit, Anand will travel to the Philippines for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit.The visit highlights the enduring ties between Canada and Pakistan, despite geopolitical challenges.
