Cardiologist Raises Concerns About Trump's Sleep Issues and Overall Health Ahead of Medical Checkup

A Raw Story report highlights comments made by Dr.Jonathan Reiner, a cardiologist and former physician to Vice President Dick Cheney, regarding President Donald Trump’s health ahead of a scheduled medical and dental examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Reiner expressed concern that the White House has not provided detailed or transparent information about the president’s physical and mental condition despite visible signs that, in his view, warrant further explanation.Among the issues discussed were bruising on Trump’s hands, swelling in his ankles, and signs of fatigue during public appearances.

Reiner questioned earlier explanations from the White House, including claims that bruising was caused by frequent handshaking and that ankle swelling was related to chronic venous insufficiency. He argued that some symptoms appeared more recent and potentially more serious than previously described. The physician also focused heavily on what he described as possible sleep-related problems.According to Reiner, Trump frequently appears tired during daytime events and has allegedly fallen asleep during meetings and ceremonies.

He suggested these behaviors could indicate chronic insomnia or daytime somnolence, conditions that may increase risks associated with aging, including cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, depression, anxiety, and dementia.

Reiner emphasized that presidents should face more consistent health transparency requirements similar to those imposed on professionals in safety-sensitive positions such as pilots and law enforcement personnel. He stated that the public deserves reassurance that the commander in chief is physically and mentally fit for duty.

The article notes that Reiner has become one of the more visible medical commentators publicly questioning Trump’s fitness for office in recent years.

Exactly. If regular workers get evaluated for fitness and alertness, the president should too. Hiding obvious health issues just fuels distrust and makes accountability impossible.

yeah, fr. if ppl in safety-critical jobs get regular fitness checks, POTUS shouldn’t be the exception. not tryna diagnose from afar, but vague updates just feed distrust + speculation. ppl deserve clearer baseline info so every visible change on camera doesn’t turn into nonstop guesswork. imo that’s basic accountability standards
