On July 24, 2026, the China Coast Guard (CCG) escalated tensions in the West Philippine Sea by launching coordinated water cannon attacks and dangerous maneuvers against Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) vessels near Bajo de Masinloc.The incidents marked the second consecutive day of CCG aggression, following attacks on July 23.At 6:26 a.m., CCG vessel 3107 fired water cannons at BRP Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408) while it conducted a maritime patrol 15 nautical miles northeast of BDM.Earlier, the vessel had been shadowed by six CCG ships and Chinese Maritime Militia vessels.At 7:35 a.m., CCG vessel 21581 approached BRP Datu Paduhinog (MMOV 3017) at seven meters, risking a collision, and later launched three direct water cannon hits.The vessel temporarily lost satellite internet connectivity.Chinese Maritime Militia vessel 00318 also posed a hazard by pulling a rope near BRP Datu Sumakwel.

Despite these actions, PCG and BFAR personnel remained safe, and vessels continued supporting Filipino fisherfolk in their traditional fishing grounds.

The PCG condemned the CCG's 'illegal, coercive, aggressive, and deceptive' actions, emphasizing BDM's status as a Philippine territory under the 2016 Arbitral Award.As of 9:30 a.m., 26 vessels were monitored in the area, including 12 CCG ships and three Chinese Maritime Militia vessels.
