The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced that it will initiate legal proceedings against police officers and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel allegedly involved in using excessive force during the July 20 student protest linked to the NEET paper leak controversy.

The announcement came after senior CJP leaders met Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar following the withdrawal of the party's 36-day agitation.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the meeting was cordial but made it clear that the party would seek legal accountability for officials seen in videos and photographs allegedly assaulting protesters, particularly those accused of causing head and hand injuries.

According to Das, the party has launched a dedicated website to collect evidence and intends to file complaints, seek registration of FIRs and, if required, approach the courts to ensure legal action against the personnel concerned.

At the same time, CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka acknowledged the cooperation extended by the Delhi Police during the course of the protests and expressed hope that the meeting marked the beginning of a more constructive relationship.

The development follows the Centre's acceptance of the party's remaining demands after three rounds of negotiations, including compensation for families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET paper leak controversy, withdrawal of FIRs registered against protesters and an assurance that no new FIRs would be filed.

The agitation concluded after Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the government announced that the outstanding demands had been accepted.
