Congress outlines Parliament strategy, vows to oppose Delimitation Bill and raise corruption, inflation and governance issues during Monsoon Session

The Congress party has announced its strategy for the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, stating that it will aggressively question the Narendra Modi government on a wide range of political, economic and governance issues.

The strategy was finalised at a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group chaired by Sonia Gandhi and attended by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders.

According to the party, the issues it intends to raise include allegations of corruption, the Ayodhya Ram temple donation controversy referred to by the party as 'chanda chori', examination paper leaks, rising inflation, foreign policy, ethanol-blended fuel, environmental concerns and the rights of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and minorities.

Congress also reiterated that it will strongly oppose any attempt by the Centre to reintroduce the Delimitation Bill, alleging that the government is trying to secure the required parliamentary majority by weakening opposition parties.Senior leader Jairam Ramesh said the party would support women's reservation legislation but objected to linking it with delimitation.

He further stated that Congress would oppose the proposed Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act and changes to the National Food Security Act.

The party also plans to seek discussions on the alleged NEET paper leak, the Ayodhya temple donation issue, ethanol-blended fuel policy and India's relations with China, the United States and developments in West Asia.

The Monsoon Session is scheduled to run from July 20 to August 13, while the government has not officially confirmed whether a revised Delimitation Bill will be introduced.
