A Federal High Court in Abeokuta has resolved a long-standing dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the governorship candidacy for Ogun State.The court declared Otunba Jimi Adebisi Lawal, a close associate of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, as the authentic governorship candidate.The ruling came after a legal challenge questioning the validity of the party's primary election, which produced multiple factional candidates.

Justice Abiodun Jordan Adeyemi confirmed that the primary was conducted lawfully and in compliance with electoral regulations, making Lawal the sole legitimate candidate.The court directed INEC to officially recognize Lawal as the ADC's flag bearer for the upcoming election.Lawal, who faced competition from Dr.Collins Ogundipe, praised the judiciary for upholding the rule of law.
