Cretin Family supergroup celebrates Ramones' 50th anniversary with tribute concert in LA

A new supergroup called Cretin Family, comprising members from Green Day, Blink-182, Rancid, and former Ramones bassist CJ Ramone, has been formed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Ramones' self-titled 1976 debut album.

The group will perform Ramones songs for the first time at the Official Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute event at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on August 30.

The event will mark five decades since the release of the iconic punk album, which revolutionized the music scene with tracks like 'Blitzkrieg Bop' and 'Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue'.

CJ Ramone described the show as 'the biggest celebration of the Ramones anyone has seen for a long time', while Billie Joe Armstrong highlighted the enduring legacy of the Ramones in punk culture.

The tribute will also feature a double screening of Carrie and Travolta's new film Propeller One-Way Night Coach, alongside a guest DJ set from Shepard Fairey.

Proceeds will support cancer research, and Rhino will release limited edition vinyl pressings of Ramones' work as part of a 'Spirit Of ’76' campaign. The event underscores the lasting influence of the Ramones on modern music.
