British actor David Jonsson has been cast as the new Black Panther in Marvel's upcoming third installment of the franchise, following the death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020.

The 32-year-old, known for his role as Gus Sackey in HBO's 'Industry' and his performance in the 2023 romantic-comedy 'Rye Lane', will portray Prince T'Challa II, the son of the late T'Challa.

The announcement was made during a surprise reveal at Comic-Con in San Diego, with Ryan Coogler, the director of the previous films, welcoming Jonsson to the role.

The film, set for release in December 2028, will continue the exploration of Wakanda's world and its characters, with Leticia Wright and Winston Duke reprising their roles as Shuri and M'Baku respectively.Marvel's decision to not recast Boseman's character was based on his iconic performance, which remains central to the franchise's legacy.The film is expected to maintain the high standards set by the previous entries, with a focus on the rich cultural and political aspects of Wakanda.
