Kaylee Hottle, a deaf actor best known for her role as Jia in the 2021 film Godzilla vs Kong, has died following a car accident at the age of 18.Her father, Joshua Hottle, confirmed the tragic news via a Facebook livestream, revealing the crash occurred in Maryland.The incident left Kaylee unconscious en route to the hospital, with her heart stopping before arrival.

Beyond her acting career, Kaylee was a student at the Texas School for the Deaf, where she thrived in an environment that supported sign language communication.She began her career in commercials, including an advert for the video relay service app Convo, which led to her casting as Jia.

Her portrayal of the deaf teenager communicating with King Kong via sign language earned critical acclaim and highlighted her advocacy for representation in Hollywood.Kaylee’s family, spanning four generations of deaf relatives, expressed deep sorrow over her passing.
