Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr.has called on Filipino youth to become defenders of truth and active partners in protecting the country's sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).Speaking at the Ilocano Dialogue on the WPS in Batac City, Teodoro emphasized that national resilience begins with an informed and united citizenry.

He highlighted the importance of public awareness and adherence to international law, such as the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, as foundational to the Philippines' maritime entitlements.

Teodoro stressed that the country's ability to withstand external threats relies not only on military strength but also on collective resolve and factual discourse.

He urged youth to counter disinformation through informed discussions and play a pivotal role in shaping the nation's future as leaders and stewards of national security.

The event aimed to strengthen public understanding of the WPS issue and foster convergence efforts to bolster national resilience against geopolitical challenges.
