The Delhi High Court has denied interim bail to Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of Al Falah University, who is facing two money laundering cases.Siddiqui sought bail citing his wife's critical health condition, but Justice Saurabh Banerjee rejected the plea, stating there was no emergent situation.The court noted that his wife's medical records showed improving health, not deterioration.The judge also raised concerns about Siddiqui being a flight risk and potentially influencing witnesses or tampering with evidence.While refusing bail, the court granted custody parole for three specific dates, allowing Siddiqui to meet his wife under strict security measures.The Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed bail, fearing evidence tampering and flight risk.Siddiqui was arrested in cases involving alleged misuse of student fees and fraudulent land acquisition.The ED alleges the university generated ₹415.10 crore between 2018-2025 and diverted funds for personal use.The court emphasized that statutory bail rules cannot be diluted for humanitarian reasons without exceptional circumstances.
