Delta Air Lines, a US-based airline, is set to launch a nonstop flight route between Los Angeles (LAX) and Manila (NAIA) starting March 28, 2027.This service will initially operate three times a week before expanding to daily flights on June 7, 2027.The airline will use an Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering multiple cabin classes including economy, premium economy, and business.
This route makes Delta the only US carrier flying directly between the two cities, challenging Philippine Airlines, which has increased its weekly flights on the same route from 14 to 18.
The new service is expected to benefit both Filipino travelers and the large Filipino-American community in Southern California, providing easier access to the Philippines without additional layovers.Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay emphasized that increased competition can make air travel more accessible and affordable for Filipinos. The United States remains the Philippines' largest source of foreign visitors, with over 707,000 arrivals recorded as of July 18, 2026.Delta's expansion also strengthens Los Angeles' position as a key West Coast gateway for its Asia-Pacific network.
This development highlights growing demand between the Philippines and the US West Coast, with potential impacts on tourism, trade, and regional connectivity.
