The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) launched 'The Wonderful West Philippine Sea,' a three-part children's e-book series aimed at educating young Filipinos about marine conservation and environmental stewardship.

This initiative, part of the DENR's 10th anniversary commemoration of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award, includes interactive features like species-spotting activities and coloring pages.

The series targets children aged six to nine, introducing them to marine species such as whale sharks and giant clams while highlighting the roles of scientists, sustainable fishers, and community volunteers in conservation efforts.

The e-books also explain threats like pollution and overfishing, encouraging environmentally responsible practices like reducing single-use plastics and participating in clean-up drives.Two additional titles are set for release in August and September, aligning with International Coastal Cleanup Day.

The series is freely available online and will be distributed to schools and communities, aiming to foster a shared responsibility for protecting the region's biodiversity.
