Judge orders removal of Trump name from Kennedy Center amid legal dispute over renaming
President Donald Trump has appeared in a televised interview with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, during which he gave her a tour of the ongoing construction site for a planned White House ballroom.
Speaking on Fox News, Trump stated that he intended for future presidential inaugurations to be held in the new facility, describing it as a large and secure venue.
He contrasted it with his own inauguration, which he said was held at the Capitol with around 902 attendees, noting the perceived limitations of that space.
During the conversation, Trump suggested that the ballroom would remain in use for generations, claiming it could serve presidents for up to 200 years, although he remarked that his own use of the facility would be limited to around six months after completion.
He also characterised the project as a “gift to America”, asserting that it was being funded entirely through private donations totalling around $400 million, including contributions from major companies such as Apple and other unnamed donors.
The interview also included political commentary, with Lara Trump criticising media reactions to the construction project, while the President accused critics of exaggeration.
Trump further promoted the ballroom as a highly secure and significant national venue, claiming involvement from the military and Secret Service in its development.
The broadcast followed reports of ongoing legal and political disputes, including a federal judge’s ruling related to separate renovation plans at the Kennedy Center.
Additionally, the discussion briefly touched on other planned White House-related events, including a UFC fight reportedly scheduled for the South Lawn in connection with Trump’s upcoming 80th birthday celebrations.
