Dr.Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, an AI governance expert, urged governments to invest more in universities and equip lecturers with tools to drive technological innovation.She emphasized that AI will transform, not replace, universities and called for AI education to be compulsory across all disciplines.

The lecture highlighted the need for collaboration between academia and industry to position African universities as creators of emerging technologies.

She argued that funding should go to universities for research rather than external consultants, stressing that graduates in various fields must have foundational AI literacy.
