Ed Harris Expresses Dissatisfaction With Role In Dutton Ranch

Ed Harris, an Oscar-nominated actor known for roles in films such as The Truman Show and Apollo 13, has expressed frustration over his portrayal in the Yellowstone spinoff series Dutton Ranch.

During a conversation with Variety, Harris revealed that he felt misled about the significance of his character, Everett McKinney, during the production of the show.

Initially signed on for two seasons, Harris reportedly grew disillusioned midway through filming Season 1, stating he was 'told my character will have a little bit more to do [in season two]'.

He criticized what he perceived as an 'inconsequential' role, with one particular scene—where his character's dialogue was cut—being a turning point.

Despite these concerns, Harris acknowledged the show's success, noting it has been renewed for a second season and became Paramount+'s biggest original series launch to date.

The actor emphasized that while he felt underused during filming, he ultimately viewed the finished product as 'pretty good', with his character 'relatively important to the story'.
