The Enugu State Government has officially launched an Inter-Ministerial Task Team focused on combating medical quackery, illegal medical practices, and unlicensed health facilities.

Commissioner George Ugwu, the state’s Health Commissioner, emphasized that this initiative is a critical step in improving healthcare regulation and protecting public health.

The task force, composed of representatives from key ministries and stakeholders, aims to coordinate efforts in identifying, investigating, and addressing irregularities in medical practices.

Ugwu highlighted the serious threat posed by medical quackery to lives and stressed the need for collective action, strict enforcement, and compliance with healthcare standards.The task force will also focus on intelligence gathering, regular monitoring, and taking decisive action against illegal medical activities.

The move reflects the administration’s commitment to transforming the healthcare sector through regulation, quality assurance, and ensuring access to safe services.

Officials present at the inauguration included the Commissioner for Justice, Information, and Children’s Affairs, underscoring the government’s multi-agency approach to safeguarding public health.
