The eThekwini municipality has issued a public appeal to cease dropping off undocumented foreign nationals at the decommissioned repatriation site in Durban, emphasizing that all repatriation services have been centralized in Musina, Limpopo.

The municipality clarified that the temporary repatriation processing centre falls under the Department of Home Affairs' mandate, with the last group of undocumented foreigners transported to Musina on Tuesday. The repatriation effort involved over 300 government-procured buses, including 150 provided by the municipality on a cost-recovery basis. The city acknowledged peaceful demonstrations against illegal migrants on Tuesday, noting no major incidents of violence or infrastructure damage.Over 20,000 Malawians were processed and repatriated through the Sherwood and Drive-In sites, highlighting the scale of the operation. The municipality urged employers, transport operators, and the public to avoid using the closed site, stressing that no services are available there.
