The West Bengal police arrested Tirthankar Ghosh, son of former TMC MLA Nirmal Ghosh, in connection with a 2021 post-election violence case and a 2024 incident where he allegedly snatched a prize-winning lottery ticket from a hotel driver.Ghosh is accused of throwing bombs at BJP leader Joy Saha's residence after the TMC won the Bengal elections.The driver, Partha Sarkar, claimed Ghosh and others threatened him with death if he reported the incident.Nirmal Ghosh, who lost the 2024 election to Ratna Debnath, is also accused in a rape and murder case involving a trainee doctor.The Central Bureau of Investigation is probing the latter case.Ghosh's father has not been questioned in the lottery case, and his house was found locked.TMC leaders denied inviting Ghosh to a meeting, stating they have reservations against him.The police are seeking legal protection for Nirmal Ghosh through a high court petition.
