The trade deal, announced in February 2026, aims to reduce tariffs on US agricultural imports like soybean oil and tree nuts, sparking concerns among farmer groups about its impact on India's farming sector.

Leaders like Sarwan Singh Pandher demanded the deal be 'completely scrapped,' citing threats to small traders, livestock rearers, and rural laborers.

The protest coincided with the Cockroach Janta Party's demonstration against Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, highlighting growing public discontent over economic policies.Police interventions included tear gas and lathi charges during clashes in Delhi, underscoring tensions between protesters and authorities.
