A dog that had been missing since the Fourth of July holiday was rescued after being spotted swimming in San Francisco Bay, according to the Menlo Park Fire Protection District.

The incident occurred after a worried resident reported seeing the pup swimming out into the bay, prompting an all-hands-on-deck mission by firefighters.Using a drone, the department located the tiny dog, which was swimming furiously with seagulls circling overhead.

Firefighters eventually scooped the dog from the murky water and swaddled it in towels before turning it over to the SPCA for reuniting with its owners.

The East Palo Alto Police Department shared a video of the rescue, describing the event as an '12/10 action movie' with the dog surviving an aerial assault by seagulls.
