A 74-year-old man in Florida was arrested after a dispute over a parking space at a Publix grocery store escalated into a confrontation involving gunfire.According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon in the parking lot of a Publix in Largo, Tampa Bay.

The alleged victim, who fired a single shot from a handgun in self-defense, reportedly drove his SUV within six to eight inches of the victim, prompting the victim to fire at the vehicle.No one was injured in the incident, which was captured on camera and reviewed by Largo police.Richard Clevenstine, 74, was charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, as the victim was forced to evade the vehicle to avoid being hit.Clevenstine was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on July 10 but was released on bond on Sunday.The case highlights the potential for minor disputes to escalate into violent confrontations, particularly in public spaces.Authorities emphasized that the victim acted in self-defense, and the charges reflect the severity of the threat posed by Clevenstine's actions.This incident underscores the importance of de-escalation techniques and the legal consequences of aggressive behavior in public areas.
