A security guard was killed and others injured when a convoy of former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas came under gun attack in Bagh district.DIG Raja Akmal confirmed the incident, stating authorities are investigating the firing.The attack occurred ahead of the July 27 AJK Legislative Assembly elections.Tanveer Ilyas recently joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) after leaving the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP-AJK).Political analysts view his move as a setback for the PPP ahead of the polls.

The region also faces violence linked to protests by the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which was declared a terrorist group under the Anti-Terrorism Act.The AJK government's crackdown on JAAC follows its planned protest against refugee seat reservations in the assembly.The incident highlights ongoing security challenges and political instability in the region.
