Former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan has posted a P90,000 bail at the Sandiganbayan Second Division on Friday to temporarily secure his freedom while facing a graft charge.The case involves alleged irregularities in government-funded flood control projects.Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Geraldine Econg confirmed that Bonoan successfully posted the bail.On the same day, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who is co-accused in the same graft case, also posted a P90,000 bail.Bonoan and Estrada are additionally facing separate graft and plunder charges before the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division.

According to prosecutors from the Office of the Ombudsman, Estrada allegedly received up to P573 million in kickbacks with assistance from four co-accused, including Bonoan, in connection with these flood control projects.

The case highlights ongoing efforts to address corruption in Philippine infrastructure projects and underscores the Sandiganbayan's role in holding public officials accountable.

Bonoan's bail ensures that he remains free while the legal process continues, reflecting the Philippine judicial system's procedure for high-profile cases.
