Former PRASA CEO and Member of Parliament Lucky Montana has vowed to challenge the Special Investigating Unit’s (SIU) preservation order over two of his properties, accusing the anti-corruption body of misleading the Special Tribunal and damaging his reputation.

The SIU secured an interim preservation order from the Special Tribunal to freeze properties in Johannesburg and Pretoria, alleging links to corruption at PRASA.Montana, who has been inundated with media inquiries, stated he would not comment while preparing his legal response.

He plans to file an answering affidavit on 19 August 2026, which will address alleged false statements by the SIU and provide evidence regarding the properties.

Montana accused the SIU of making fraudulent misrepresentations under oath to secure the order and warned of potential legal action against SIU officials if the court rules in his favor.

He also intends to lodge complaints with the Legal Practice Council over unethical conduct and reserve the right to institute civil proceedings against the SIU leadership for damages.Montana emphasized that the SIU’s allegations aim to tarnish his reputation, urging the media to verify facts before publishing.The case highlights ongoing tensions between political figures and anti-corruption bodies in South Africa.
