Former British politician Ann Widdecombe, 78, was murdered by Joshua Kerry, 28, who attacked her at her home in southwest England.Prosecutors revealed Kerry struck her 21 times with a hammer during lunch, causing blunt force trauma to the head, which was listed as the provisional cause of death.Kerry, a suspect in the case, was arrested on July 11 and charged with murder and acts of terror.Police are investigating potential political or terrorist motives, as he lived over 400km from Widdecombe's home.The attack has reignited concerns about political security following previous MP murders.Widdecombe, a former Conservative minister and Brexit Party member, was known for her socially conservative views.Her death follows the 2016 killing of Labour MP Jo Cox and the 2021 stabbing of Conservative David Amess.Kerry, who wore a grey sweatsuit, did not enter a plea and is set for a court appearance in October.
