Gatwick Airport Faces Water Supply Disruption, Affecting Facilities and Passengers

A water supply issue has caused significant disruption at Gatwick Airport, affecting both terminals.Toilets are reported to be out of order, and restaurants have been closed to the public.

SES Water, which services parts of Kent, Surrey, and south London, confirmed that a power outage at its Bough Beech Water Treatment Works initially impacted the area. While services have resumed, the company is still treating water to restore normal operations.Gatwick Airport has provided bottled water to passengers and staff, with contingency measures in place. However, the situation remains challenging, with passengers facing delays, limited facilities, and restricted access to certain areas.A passenger, Paul Lee, highlighted concerns over the lack of official information and the absence of bottled water distribution.Former MP Michael Dugher urged the airport to allow seating in closed restaurants, as families were forced to sit on the floor. The disruption has also affected flight schedules, with Easyjet advising passengers to adjust their arrival times.SES Water reported that areas including TN8, TN11, and parts of Surrey experienced low pressure or no supply. This incident follows a similar disruption in July 2022, when a burst water main caused similar issues. The airport continues to work with SES Water to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
