Gibbons, returning from Europe, dominated the men's race with a time of 2:12:11, while Grove claimed her third consecutive women's title in 2:30:29.The event, which faced weather challenges in previous years, saw near-perfect conditions this year.Gibbons highlighted the significance of the 40th edition, noting his achievement after a successful return to South African racing.Grove emphasized her resilience, overcoming endurance doubts to win solo.

Race founder Dave Wiseman, battling multiple cancers, completed the race in 3:41:00, reflecting on the event's growth from 100 riders in the 1980s to a national cycling staple.The milestone edition underscored community spirit and the sport's resurgence in KwaZulu-Natal.
